Yeah and that's right.... this company has brought us a technology that involves sending commands (mouse, keyboar, joypad controls) to their server to process the game and it gives back the result game video as a stream.... as said that you could run a game in 720p with a 5mb connection on any crappy PC you have =D.....

I'm just stating what I red in a brazilian forum but you can all check the oficial website for a better understanding....

OnLive is launching the world’s highest performance Games On Demand service, instantly delivering the latest high-end titles over home broadband Internet to the TV and entry-level PCs and Macs.

Founded by noted technology entrepreneur Steve Perlman (WebTV, QuickTime) and incubated within the Rearden media and technology incubator, OnLive spent seven years in stealth development before officially unveiling in March 2009.

OnLive, together with its Mova subsidiary, lies directly at the nexus of several key trends, all of which are reshaping the way we think about and use digital media:

* The shift to cloud computing, displacing the limitations, cost and complexity of local computing;
* An explosion of consumer broadband connectivity, bringing fast bandwidth to the home;
* Unprecedented innovation, creativity and expansion within the video game market.

Pioneering the delivery of rich interactive media to the home, OnLive will change the way that entertainment applications are created, delivered and consumed.

Yeah I saw this on the bbc news website.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7962180.stm

Apparently it is going to be a subscription service but they haven't said how much it will be.

I don't think it will be that expensive mate... but yes no clue so far.....

and you can play with a crappy PC all you need is a good internet connection... you can play 720p with a true 5mb connection speed.....

the subscription probably will be by monthly fee so you could play any one of the games....

and yet you could buy the TV version that's just a weird controller that they say it's gonna be cheap too and will let you play anything on it.... great stuff....

it's gonna take a while for it to become popular but they do have a nice start...

this'll never take hold in the UK unless they start bumping up broadband speeds thats for sure. I just hope BT gets off its ass and rolls out this fiber optic network they've just been given the go-ahead for.

that's the thing... this is a great idea but it won't be around unless the ISP companies really give us the connection we pay for =/...... maybe future holds some good things... we just have to wait to see it...

can i just point out that all the fiberoptic cables in the world wont make much difference in the uk, its still bottlenecked to copper wires from the exchange to your house, effectively crippling the service before it starts

yeah that is a problem. I know BT are going to be installing fiber optic in all new housing estates as standard, but what are they going to do about everyone else I wonder. I've heard something about running the fiber optic through the sewers to peoples homes like they do in france but its going to be years before we see anything like that over hear.

Best thing to do now if you want fiber optic is to move into a virgin cable area.

yeah but don't complain dude I bet your connection is a lot stabler and faster than here in Brazil.... ISP's just sucks here... all of them.... traffic shapping is a common use... and they'll clip your bandwitch to the max..... so gay...
