About going live with modded 360's

allright so I don't own a xbox so I don't know nothing about it and want some help for a friends question...

he says he have a firmware modded 360 (he doesn't know the mod name but he'll get me for tomorrow) and that he heard that if u go live they can find that your 360 is modded and they ban u from the live connection...

is this true and if so what can he do to play online without getting busted??

If he has iXtreme FW installed then theres a very slim chance that he'll get busted, but if he has the older FW which isnt iXtreme then he's gonna be busted on the spot. It's a good idea for him to know what FW he's running before he even thinks of going online.

He can connect his 360 up to the net and download the usual XBLA games, etc.. But if he loads up a backup the 360 will do an update (as it does with all games) and thats how he can be caught out.

allright then... tonight I'll find out what FW is he running... so iXtreme is the best choice?? and what is these XBLA games? Is there any way to change the iso to make it so it don't upload?? and there's any way to run the games directly from the hdd??

XBLA dont matter, they dont require any type of update so u can play those to your hearts content.

If you mean the update, rather than upload, then no, theres nothing you can do about it, it updates every time you play any disc based game. And again, no theres no way of playing games on the HDD.

If ur mate (who i think is Griffo) isnt sure what FW he's using then it's best NOT to play any games over live, unless he wants to run the risk of being banned. XBLA games are fine but thats it.

So Sladey if I am understanding you right.. even if you have ixtreme and you play a backup online you can be caught and banned? I don't understand whats the point then.. if you like to play multiplayer games then modding your 360 is not going to work?

the latest Ixtreme firmwire cant be detected, but there can be a really slim chance that it could be

Strikes right, with iXteme FW theres only a very slim chance that you will get detected, i havent heard of anyone yet that has, but that doesnt mean nobody has been.

If your running FW that isnt iXtreme then you will instantly get banned on the spot. Just make sure your using the latest iXtreme FW and you should be fine.

A word of warning though, Halo 3 is due out in 2 weeks, around that time be very careful when playing online as Micorosft may be holding out till then before banning Xbox's again, like they did with the Halo 3 Beta.

no dude Graffo can't affoard a 360 =P... actually he never payed my ps2 slim... I think I'll get it back to put it in my car ^^....
