i am now officially a member of the wii club
i got the wiikey modchip
still don't have copies to try it
but the vendor i bought it from showed me a jap game cube game copied fro original working.
i got zelda
and gonna start to download games
a question though
how do i update the modchip
i don't have wireless
so i update from game disks?
plus
what kind of disk do u burn with kv
i got datalife dvd-r
and some imation dvd+r
will those work?

First off congrats on your purchase.

Currently there is no update yet for the wiikey, we are still waiting, however there are config files available on their official site (http://www.wiikey.cn/index.html) get version 1.2, it allows you to enable/disable region unlocking and more. You will have to burn the image onto a dvd disk, once done load it in your wii and setup the configs, I recommend you leave the read speed setting alone as making it to fast or to slow can cause problems for some games.

As for disk type use dvd - (do not use dvd +), I use Datawrite dvd-r disks and they have never failed me, also I always burn at 4x using Imgburn (as provided in another thread I made).

It is most advisable to update your wii through wireless net, you would simply set up your connection on wii then goto system update. If you can`t get your wii online then the only other choice would be to update using a game, now unless you purchase a game from your local gameshop which has an update on it the only other way would be to use a downloaded game, however you would need to be 100% sure it is the same region as your console, and that the game disk has no corruptions which is why I prefer not to do it with downloaded games.

can i play them normally
or do i have to update?
and if i have to update, how do i do it from the disk?
